Yes ,I agreed with you guys about the weight,my is 12.5 pounds but they sound as heavy as they weight. You may need to do some squads, leg extension ect to keep a hold on him.

I just changed the macho skin for one of Isaac's mules and kept the supplied hembra skin.
They sound even meaner.
Charangaman, PM me if you want to try them out.

There is an el piernas Campana on ebay right now, anyone one played this Campana? As good as their bongo?

Charangaman

hey how are you. I have an el piernas bell that i bought a couple of years ago and it's just finally getting broken in. Mine is chrome plated big mouth variety similar to what Roena would use back in the day. Very loud sustaining resonance between a mid and high pitch. I had to duct tape the inside of the bell to dampen it. Very heavy also. If I'm playing along to a particularly fast track I find myself adjusting the weight in my hand after a bit. Sounds real good now though and would cut through nicely in a live setting. I'll try and post a pic later.

Many thanks for the insight AlexV :)

Looks like a nice bell, and it's used so may be broken in already.. Only £10 - $17 at the mo..

I've said this before but a friend of mine that bought a bongo directly to El Piernas in Colombia, the hardware gave up and he has to replace all the hardware....Wondering if that quality control problem continues or if it was my friend's bad luck. (My friend says the bongo sounds great but all the hardware started bending and giving up after several tunings).

In regards to "his" bells....I have one, bought by my friend that had the "bad bongo", and used some that are owned by some friends. They are OK but I guess I am used to the tones by JCR. (My HR bell is too dry and does not project that well...Sounds like LP ES-3 but drier with no projection...Great for recording but not for live situations. I felt the same with the other ones I've played. Yep...they are heavy).

Saludos!
