Now here is a Schalloch bongó from the time when their quality was high.
The hardware is the bomb!
With decent skins now, it makes an excellent allround bongo I would
take anywhere.

Nice street Bongo, he is ready for whatever comes his way. I got a friend who has one, very good hardware but I do not understand how he manage to get one of the tuning lugs out of shape been them 3/8. Murphy law.

Yes, the hardware is one of the best features of that Schalloch bongó.
Wow, bending a lug of that thickness really means something

My "street bongo" is a no name bongo bought for $80 in a flea market in Havana Cuba. The crown and the bottom hoop are not the most perfectly shaped but it is a solid drum and it sounds great. The next time I'm in Cuba, I'll look for the Sonoc factory.

Matador

My 1996´s Matador with Nuskyn on Macho and thick calf from Mali on Hembra.

I bought them a vew months ago for 20 € with original heads.

I´m very happy after the head replacement.

Peace, Jo!
