Ok i have some bongo heads that are not stretched out actually they are nearly like new from that standpoint but they appear very dry will palm oil (manteca de corojo) or yambu321's advice of olive oil work to bring some life to these skins?

VINNIE. PLEASE, KEEP IT SIMPLE.

OLIVE OIL WILL WORK WONDERS. BUT, YOU MUST GIVE IT TIME TO WORK FOR YOU THROUGH INTERVALED APPLICATIONS. OLIVE OIL, IS EASY TO APPLY, (NOT THICK AND OR DAMPENING LIKE MANTECA DE COROJO) WHICH IS NOT SOMETHING, THAT YOU WOULD WANT ON YOUR BONGOS. FOR CONGAS, MAYBE YEARLY OR BI-YEARLY APPLICATION, WOULD BE FINE ENOUGH. OLIVE OIL IS ALSO EASY TO WIPE CLEAN, AND CAN BE USED AS NEEDED.

YOU KNOW WHAT VINNIE? IT ALSO HAS NO BAD CHOLESTEROL! LOL!

I would not even waste my time with those heads. Why don't you just get new ones and not worry about it? Once heads get dry like that you are never going to get them to how they once were. They have lost their natural oils. Better to move on.

Good point the breeze,
vinnieL
Bro if you don't see any improvement, with shea butter, shea should do it with in 3 aplications let it dry in between aplications for a day or two, which is great, oil, or manteca.
don't waste too much time on them, get new skins.

Coconut oil is best. Learned this from Robert FELCHER who has also left this site as a "contributing member" and it is indeed perfect for this application. The only real drama here is from Abakua's threats and censorship.
