In the late 80's or early 90's when I had a radio show in WDNA Miami, Martin Cohen was in town and he had gone to see Luis Miranda, Machito's 2nd tumbador. During this visit, Cohen came to WDNA and I interviewed him. At the time I had a real vintage LP bongo' from Maywood, NJ. that I had bought from Juan Mendez, Pacheco's first bongocero from the "Viva Africa" album, I showed them to Cohen and he said "that's one of the first I made back in my basement in Maywood, but do you have a Zebrawood?". I told him I have had 2 sets before and that's when he said "I got that wood from southeast Asia around 1967 and made close to 100 sets, not quite 100".
I don't lie and that's what Mr. LP related to me. He was impressed to see my Maywoods, but stated that the few Zebrawood bongos he had made in the late 60's early 70's were the true collectors items.
Enclosed see my 1964 Maywood NJ bongos, sold them to Julito from our forum.

We know you are an honest man no need for you to mislead anyone here. I don't think anyone paid attention considering the source.

With all due respect. I would discourage you from making these types OF critiques as there may be some in this forum with this same challenge, some which might be discouraged from participating in an open and productive discussion.
Peace.
Juan

KC you are right we don't want to discourage anyone from participating in this forum. There are many of us that don't spell everything correctly including myself. We want congaplace to remain a fun and educational enviroment.

I stand by my criticism of Cuco. Any Ebay seller with that degree of spelling errors
in his Ebay ads, especially with today's spell check function on every computer shows
a complete lack of professionalism and in my opinion trustworthiness. I made no
critique of anybody's spelling on the forum, nor would I.

I understood your criticism was directed at this man not anybody in this forum. Your criticism is valid. I was born and raised in Puerto Rico did not come to this country until I was 24 so English is not my first language but I take pride on my spelling and writing. I still make mistakes but be assured I always check and double my spelling. For a man that suppose to be this professional and so much better than the rest of us (amateurs) his writing left a lot to be desired amongst other things. I will be really hesitant to buy from somebody on ebay that cant' spell and put down this forum in a continuous basis. Those are not kind misspelled words this man have for this forum members. This can’t be sugar coated and swept under the rug. It Is What It Is.

IMHO having this forum on your side facilitate selling percussion items on Ebay or Craigslist. I have seen plenty of people coming here for advice on items they have seen posted on Ebay or Craigslist and getting excellent advice. Very good, clever and informed people on this forum no doubt. His loss.

There is no doubt this forum helps members make informed decisions. His ebay listings definitely have huge red flags waving. My opinion of this man is not favorable it's unfortunate that there are people out there that will fall for some of these items thinking they are truly special.

Hello all. I have been following this post about the person selling various bongos on Ebay. None were sold.
I Know this person to have an ego the size of Mount Rushmore. He obviously has a vast collection and some insight into
Afro Cuban percussion . All of which is overshadowed by his self centered I am the authority attitude . I have read many
of his posts both here and in other percussion sites. A lot of the information he provides is either false or made up to
be true. He contradicts himself and seems to be at times delusional. Just my thoughts. Happy Holidays
