They are beauties for sure, why they put those horrid aluminum bottoms on the other models is beyond me.

Nice looking Zeeb's Dario, definitely early ones.
With Cuban style bottom rings an Lp logo stamped into the metal.
Those bottom rings were before the later thick casted one piece ones.
I like the look of the center post being only two separate pieces, instead of one solid block.

These are the ones I bough several months ago, I'm getting ready to put new skins on.
The wood is immaculate and really beautiful.
Interestingly, there was no Lp logo "tag" stuck/glued to the outer shell.
The skin stamp reads "Maywood N.J." (Long before Palisades Park)
And the thick one piece bottom rings are chromed steel, which must have been expensive to do even back in '69,'70,71.
I'm still amazed at the great condition they were in.
The person who sold them to me told me he bought them at an estate sale in a wealthy residential
part of New Jersey.
He told me the owner (who died) bought them, played them a few times and they sat on a shelf in his closet for next 40 years.

Yours are in prestine condition. When I interviewed Cohen at WDNA, when I had my show, I took my old Maywood bongos that I had bought from Juan Mendez, Pacheco's bongocero. However, what Cohen talked about and what he put emphasis on was the Zebras. He mentioned how he had gotten a connection during the Vietnam conflic and that's where the zebra wood had come from. These are truly collectible bongos, good sounding and beautiful to the eye.

The only bongos I've seent hat come close to those in terms of beauty are the ziracote drums mario is making in Belize. nice stuff, I never even knew about those zebra bongos before.
