What makes a good bongo player?

Hi all,

I read this forum all the time, but this is my first time posting. I have been playing bongos for about 1 year and I love them. I've played drums for a long time and always wanted to learn bongos. I finally worked on it last year. I love the instrument and play them at church as well as drum kit.
I have a question.

In your opinion, what makes a good bongo player? If I was trying to reach a goal of being a good bongo player. What things would I need to work on to get to that point?

Here are a few attributes of a good/great bongo player:

1) Very good sense of timing and rhythm
2) Percussive creativity
3) Allowing room for others
4) Ability to get lots of sounds from the bongo
5) Accurate strokes

Practicing anything that helps you achieve these attributes should help you progress.

Good luck with your journey!
