(I posted this in the bongo forum, but maybe more people check in here, so apologies for the double post.)
Hello Everyone,

My new salsa band needs a skilled bongocero for (mostly) paid gigs in and around NYC. We are not looking for a hired-gun, but a long-term member who wants to grow with the group and have a blast, in the way that the band "La Excelencia" has built a team of great players. Rehearsals are usually 1X/week on Wednesday evenings, and we have gigs every Sunday through March.

If anyone is reading this today, Sat Jan 22, we are playing TONIGHT at Camaradas, 10-1am! Stop by and say hello.

Below are some links to press, music, and events featuring the band. Email me directly at gianni@giannimano.com if you are interested.

Press Description:
The Williamsburg Salsa Orchestra is unlike any band you’ve heard before. What is the WSO? A traditional 11-piece Latin band which plays dynamic, thrilling arrangements of indie rock tunes. With an ever-evolving set list that includes songs by Yeaseayer, Japanther, Animal Collective, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, TV On The Radio, Peter Bjorn and John, The Mars Volta, Arcade Fire, and many more, the WSO will make a salsa-believer out of you. Led by percussionist/arranger Gianni Mano, (from the Brooklyn Latin-funk legends Radio Mundial), the WSO contains some of the best young players on the scene including a full compliment of horns and percussion. With the attitude of a rock band, and the grooves of classic New York salsa, the Williamsburg Salsa Orchestra is redefining salsa for a new decade and resetting the boundaries of the art form. Already garnering international attention and press, the WSO will complete a debut album in early 2011. Contact us at wso@giannimano.com.

Hello everyone,

We are looking for a bongocero to join our salsa orchestra. We have paid gigs, and once-a-week rehearsals. We have a few "hired guns" already who haven't really learned the music tight enough, so if you are looking for a real fun band to join and start playing out right away, let me know. It's a young but grooving band with a unique all-new repertoire.

You should be free in the evenings (usually Wed to rehearse) and be able to gig once a week on either Thursday, Fri, Sat or Sun nights.

Here's a few links to some upcoming shows and info about the band.

Come on people it is your chance to become a player and step off the collector and fanatic wagon. Rehearsal will teach you how to interact with the rest of the percussion section and with a full band.

Iam too far away if not I would play. But you can pay my flight ticket and I be there
Cuquito get off your rocking chair
and put some of that lot of experience that yuo have into motion and take charge
