New Gon bops bongos

I have seen it on Gon Bops website before. I do no think is meant for the regular bongo
player. That attachment looks like is meant for a drum kit or something. That thing is
way too big and then it has the comfort crowns way too heavy to play it tradionally. The
head is like 10" in diameter. You got to pratice yoga to get your legs to spread wide enough
to play that thing and then there is the weight issue.

Thanks for the photo. I do not like the way the (3) head bongo drum is arranged on the stand.
Perhaps the idea is too get a "conga with snares effect" from the bass bongo. I think they are just trying to
have a different (3) head bongo than LP where on the LP the extra head is real small macho and
on the Gon Bops the extra head is an extra-large hembra. I guess this bongos are better suited
for the "percussionists" you see where they have to play timbales, congas, bongos and other
percussion instruments to add colors. No a big fan of (3) head bongos, that's all.

I've seen some orchestra percussionists use sticks to play rack-mounted bongos so I could see the third size being used to increase their capability, but not with a stand like that. It looks... interesting.

As you can see they have (2) flavors of the same thing once cost more than the other on the account of the wood and hardware.
If you buy the bongo you have to buy the rest of the contraption stand etc. Some will buy them for $1000 then later on will sale
for pennies on the dollar on ebay and craigslist.......

Maybe someone for the forum will buy it and make good use of it , dont think its practical for playing martillo or any conventional cuban rhythms but could be put to good use in experimental music , maybe some bata rumba etc The kind of stuff that you love so much .

LP was first with the three drum bongo. Mainly for playing in a stand up stand usually in conjunction with bongos. A popular set up for afrobeat and other styles.

I've got an LP triple and like it more and more over time. I didn't like it at first. I still can't play it in a triangle but in a straight line I can. A Meinl TMC heavy-duty stand works great with the LP triple and holds it steady.

I know many just take off the small head and play it as a Gen 3 but I sometimes take off the 9" when I want a small beach bongo. It is a very adaptable instrument for someone who just wants one bongo. I've recommended them to new students. Most give them up and they can often be picked up on Ebay cheap - like for 10% of the cost of the GB!

If anything I like the LP triple bongo better than the Gon Bops. The LP
version you can configure it in a couple of kool ways. IMHO I think that
a bongo head that is about 10" in diameter it just way too big and then
for the Gon Bops triple bongo you got to buy extra-hardware to make it
work and then it has snares, a different concept.

This one if you buy and don't like it too much you can convert it to a shoe shine box.
You can play on it while you wait for customers to show-up. A double duty box
plus you can recuperate some of the cash you wasted on it.

O a martillo can be play and any conventional music . Someone will put to good use but if it were me I would use it to play Celtic Rock would make great sound affects . Your kind

I have played bongo many times in our traditional music It works great for jigs ( 6/8 ) or reels ( 4/4 ) . Extremely versatile instrument imo . Just got myself a brand new Toca bongo as part of my endorsement deal . Love it !

Indeed . Toca have sent me a toca custom deluxe bongo and 3 congas Very happy with them tbh . Will need to change the macho on the bongo but the conga heads are very good compared to other stock heads i have owned . Great set of drums all round .

I like it ! it dosent look great in the photo but i have seen the congas and they look cool imo . The stuff they sent me was green sparkle ! Looks cool on stage .
