Bongo Sizes

Postby torpedo tom » Thu Nov 08, 2012 4:41 am

I just bought a set of Meinls in the 300 series which has been discontinued in the 6 3/4 & 8 inch sizes. In general, which are the more desirable sizes for the bongo? 6 3/4 & 8 or 7 & 9? They have the traditional tuning crowns and the price was right. Are these good, bad, just ok or what? Thanks for your input. TT

I think I saw them on Ebay at an incredible price. If those are it you got an awesome deal. In Cuba the bongo sizes were mostly 6.75 & 8. Unless you had a custom made bigger size. It really depends on individual taste, a 9" hembra will give you a big bottom. I think you made a killing with your purchase.
