Here is a picture of Mongo's 1954 Cuban Vergara bongo'.Made by Gonzalo Vergara macho 7",hembra 9 1/8".Mongo bought it for Willie Bobo when they were both with T. Puente.Mongo got it back from Willie in 1983 before he died.I inhereted it from Mongo after his 1st stroke.

Behind Mongo,on the wall of his condominium,you can see his 5 Gramy nominees and his Gramy winning album on Vaya "Amanecer",Mongo was the first conguero to win a Gramy,he won it in 1978.Mongo lives ! Dario

Hola Dario,

Hope all is well! Attached is a pic of my "Junior" Tirado bongó. Plenty of resemblance to the Gonzalo Vergara's, even the center block.

Dario,that is a Vintage masterpiece,you are killing me. As I can see,the Junnior Tirado kind of resemble the Vergara. I got in contact some time ago with somebody from New Jersey who was selling a Junnior on e-bay but he wanted too much money. Talking about that guy, I mean, I can pay a reasonable amount but not an excesive one,not because of money but because it is not my sole purpose to collect the instrument instead of using it.
