About learning how to play bongo,I remember Orestes Vilato' telling me over 25 yrs. ago.If you want to play bongo' listen to Arsenio recordings with Papa Kila, here you will learn clave and proper martillo and contratiempo. After Arsenio you can move on to Armando,Mongo,Yeyito and Mangual.Don't forget Dandy Rodriguez.
For campana I'm with the guys,I think JCR is your best bet and is readily available.I'm a collector nut,I have an old campana made by Johnny Pacheco in the early 60's,a Cuban made cencerro that belonged to Juan Mendez, original bongocero for Orq. Rumbavana and also a campana made by Carlos Landaeta (Pan Con Queso) from Venezuela, but this has taken me about 30 yrs. of searching and paying big bucks.
