Thanks! We're working on the tooling for the congas. Our first offering will be similar to the old Sol Rumba congas. We plan to offer them in a variety of wood choices. We're shooting for custom shop quality, but at a more affordable cost. Stay tuned!

Saludos, price is $349 and size 7" x 8.5". Really a very good price for a boutique type bongó. The only thing I don't like are synthetic on both shells but also believe that could be arrange to my taste of natural thick skin on Hembra and skindeep on macho. One last thing, they said the prices will go up in September so hurry up.

We (Sol) do offer rawhide heads as an option. We have to charge a little extra due to the time it takes for Akbar to hand make the heads. We typically use cowhide for the hembra and horsehide for the macho. Akbar designed the bongos to fit standard Remo heads so there are a lot of options for synthetic heads.

Thanks for the clarification. Good to know that a natural skin can be mounted on the Hembra. Is there an option to make a bigger Hembra about 8 5/8" or 8 3/4"?

Great looking Bongó. Still deciding if I need another Bongó or not, currently have 7 which I schedule depending on the type of gig. .

Saludos, once again Sol is making some beautiful bongos. However they are intended and made to use synthetic and natural thinner skins. I have been exchanging emails with them to see if a thicker natural skin could be mounted on the Hembra an even though Mr Lany tried to satisfy my requirement the answer was no. To my taste and preference of a fat sound out of the Hembra a medium thick skin will not do but other bongoceros may think and prefer differently.
