In 1982 I made a trade in Calle Ocho Carnival with the bongosero from Sonora Ponceña, I gave him a 10 lug Gon Bops for an Ismael. The Ismael was very ugly and rustic but the sound was uncomparable. I had that Ismael for about a month and my house was broken into and among many things they took the Ismael. I've spent many years looking in pawn shops to see if it would show up, but no chance.
But God is good, after 25 yrs. I got my hands on another but even better Ismael, probably 30 yrs. old or more and 10 lugs, P.Rican cahoba and the sound is beyond any other. The only thing is quite heavy, pero un sonido encojonao ! Find enclosed pictures.
Sonerito suena tu bongo' ! Dario :D

Dario, que bolá. El Buey de Efrain, a friend has one of Ismael with 4 lugs but he is willing to give up his A$$ instead of trading or selling . That is the value that piece of art has for him.

Vaya Caballon !

I had to give up a beautiful JCR and a Cuban for the Ismael, but if you want something bad enough you have to pay the price. How is your priceless vintage Piernas doing these day. What kind of heads does it have ? Suenalo ! Dario :D

Vaya Acére,

The Piernas está fuera de liga, I went back to mule skin on the Macho and still have the same skin you mounted on the hembra,I done that on the Moperc also . Se asegura que el buen Vino the older it's gets the better it's flavor that's the way El Piernas is. You are right sometimes you have to pay the price.
