Saludos, in the works is a close replica of Dandy Rodriquez model bongó. Made of solid mahogany no staves by Jorge Miranda. The Dandy is a an excellent bongó by Lp, however it' has a very uncomfortable terrible bearing edge that really does nothing but hurt the hands. And thinking about it, that was the reason I got rid of it the first time I owned. So was better to do something special . More to follow. Would be ready 1st week of December.

Psych, not that I know. I can get you in touch with him. You need to provide the hardware for the bongó and a deposit. Once it's made then the rest of the payment plus shipping. I 'll let you know.

Cool! Deal me in.
Looks like I'll also end up with a new bongo cajon - Dandy shells and white birch tops.

What are people's opinions on how the shape of the bearing edge affects the sound of the bongo?
I had a similar problem with old LP bongos and re-shaped the bearing edge about 40 years ago, but don't remember if it had any effect on the sound.

Jorge, really I prefer a rounded bearing edge which to me accentuates more the sound of the martillo.

Saludos, here a picture of the overhauled Dandy made of solid mahogany no staves. Tomorrow I will picked up at Ponce P.R which is about 2 hours drive from my home. More pictures tomorrow as the one I am posting was sent by the artisan

Los he usado en dos ocasiones y tienen un sonido redondo, meloso de la hembra. Esta tiene un cuero nuevo y hay q darle un tiempo pa' que se asiente bien.
I have use them a couple times already. Old school sound with excellent volume.
