Sorry Psych but Pau Ferro is not known as Brazilian Rosewood, now it is a
substitute for Brazilian Rosewood. Pau Ferro is known as Bolivian Rosewood,
Morado and Santos Rosewood. I refinished both of my CP bongos I have no
doubt is Pau Ferro, all the characteristics listed on the hardwood/tonewood
databases I have research are there. . I am not pulling this out of thin air,
see links. This wood is not soft at all and the bongos project real well with
a warm tone specially the hembra. It took me a minute doing research to
finally arrived at the conclusion that the wood of my (2) older CP's is pau ferro.
No other tone wood looks like that. My last entry on this thread got to move on,
keep on drumming and cherishing vintage drums. Good Luck, Gentlemen!
