My grandmother would have told me “You need a new bongo like you need a hole in your head.” But, she is no longer around to protect me from myself, and, I couldn’t resist.

This is my biggest and heaviest bongo. 7/9, thick solid shell Caribbean mahogany, 10 key super beefy stainless steel hardware. I couldn’t play it for long without a stand. It fits well on a Meinl sit-down stand.

I’ve been playing it a lot since I got it, 2 days now. It sounds pretty much like my other big bongos, Ismael and El Piernas. But it came with Skyndeep tucked heads that are new to me so I can’t really compare them. If I keep it I probably will change the heads, at least on the hembra.

Yes, seem to be built like tanks.
But how much do they really weigh, Psych1?

About 6.6 Kg / 14.5 Lb.

I haven't taken it apart but assume most of the weight is in the hardware that could be changed. I have some LP Dandy rims in a box somewhere that might fit.

Yes, the harware looks pretty clunky to be honest,
but the rest looks very fine.
How many bongos have you got in your stable at all now?
I am down to three , Raúl and LP mahogany as well as a Schalloch beater...

I saw those. Heavy duty for sure, but solid shell bongos are always nice!
