Hello Forum Menbers,

Just want to post a few pics of my recently completed, commisioned Bongó.
Its made African Niangon wood with Teak inlays, German Stier skins and obviously LP Matador Hardware.
As always, was great fun, and all made with hand tools, see Foto.

Did you make some recordings, or sound demos with them ?

No, I didn't make any recordings etc...
But naturally, I played them before I sent them to the person who comissioned them and he has been playing
for close to forty years. And he reported to me that they are the best sounding Bongos he's ever played.
And from where I come from, the customer's always right  .

Beautiful looking, and original design too. I have never seen bongos that looked like that, you really featured the natural wood grain in a beautiful way. And making them using hand tools only is no joke, excellent work. Would be great if you could post a clip of the new owner playing them.

Thanks Jorge and Derbeno!!
I'm also really pleased with the way the design turned out. It was a lot of fun work...
If I can get an audio or video clip of them being played, I'll certainly post it.

They look great! Bet they sound great too. Wish I could play them.

Would love to see pics of the construction process.

So, what is this "commision" stuff?? Are you now making bongos to order? For friends only or who else? For money? Nah, can't be that - must be a labor of love. Martin C, is the only guy who ever made money making bongos.

Hey Psych1,

Thanks! Yeah, well you know, life is full of inexplicable Phenomenon all following the natural laws of cause and effect.

Someone saw the first pair of Bongos I made and asked if would make them a pair and gave me creative freedom.. So, yes, I guess I'm making Bongos now for those who elses who are interested, and yes it's a labor of love with monetary compensation to cover Materials and my work. I'm certainly not on the way to build an Emporium...
But would like to soon to be able to make some hardware. But my little shop is really not suited for that kind of metalwork by hand or otherwise. I can do a little welding that's about it and sometimes more outside when the landlord isn't lurking around.

With the exception of the Inlay work, the construction process is the same as that for my first pair posted here: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=9060
