Yes, in particular Juaort has been very helpful. This is what I love about a forum format. The sharing of knowledge and encouragement.

That’s what makes percusionistas a family as well as a support group. I’ve been listening to these guys advice and point of views for years now. Chtimulato, Thomas, Mike, Caballoballo and many others that may be checking in but not commenting anymore. I’ve learned and ton and have also been entertained. And the one constant has always been our love for Latin percussion, music and the instrument. I’m a lifer when it comes to this stuff here. So to think that something I’ve shared has contributed to one of our forum brothers development or further understanding of the instruments and music we love, then I tell you that makes me a very happy guy. And the reason why I keep coming back and still go through the vast number of knowledge share here.

Mike wrote:As to the overtones: you will need a little patience until the hembra skin has broken in, the ringing is partly due to the freshly mounted skin, it will decrease over time.

Edit: hembra hangover? ;) Never heard of that. You ought to to drink less while mounting skins then :P Just kidding
Seriously, uneven skin thickness is something you usually try to avoid, as tuning can become a hassle.

Mike, you were 100% correct. A week later and the hembra sounds fabulous. These new heads have transformed the Matadorś!

Here’s one I recently did. I added thin Horse on Macho and Thick Cow on the Hembra. They sound even better now. I have some long tuning lugs that helped get that cow skin on there. I believe it’s right around 1.5mm give or take a MM or so.

Nice work, Juaort.

Can anybody here explain me how to insert a picture ? I used to use a kind of "embedding website", allowing me to put my pictures online and giving me a link, but this site seems now out of business.

Hey Chtimulato. I usually add pics I have saved on my phone. I click upload attachment, then chose the pic from my phone. I change the size of the pic to Medium that way it loads fast. Them hit submit. That’s what I’ve been using all along at least.

Thanks Juaort. :)

Doesn't work for me though. I tried several times, and got everytime this error message :

"Temporary folder could not be found. Please check your PHP installation.". :(

It's easy to do : I put 2 torch lamps behind the bongó shells.

Here's another one I'm proud of (I put a torch lamp inside a conga) :

Interesting! I thought the bongó was laying on it´s side and the view was from the open end with a light in front of the heads. Very cool.

Chtimulato, I love the character of the skins. I don’t like plain Jane looking skins. The more contrast and character the better. It just makes them look real to me and not processed if that makes any sense.
