Secondly I would NEVER use 2 different drum heights, this is BAD on your rotator cuff and you WILL need a replacement later in life. You probably will NOT be able to play congas later in life if you sustain this injury.

That depends, however. I play a 30" LP Classic quinto with an almost 32" tall Afro Elite Tumba and this works well. OK, I out the Quinto on a wooden disk (about 1/2"), but as it is tilted anyway the height difference is not that big any more.

These drums are close enough in height where I don't experience any problems when playing all three. I usually use the short one as the tumba.
I have a set of Resolution drums coming next week (from Ralph Flores sone of Tom Flores, creator of Valje), they are at 30". Valje's were originally 31".
Myself I like the shorter drums, but I am short at 5'6". Similarly I am not a fan of the new style bongos with the 9" hembras, kind of wide for me to hold with my legs.
These drums are close enough in height where I don't experience any problems when playing all three. I usually use the short one as the tumba.

Posted: Sun Jan 27, 2008 10:11 amNot a problem. But I like my drums all the same height now. You can put the short drum on a seated stand and make up the two inches if it bugs you.
