From the old school, I like Manny Oquendo's style and would add his name to the list, as well as Elio Reve and Rafael Cortijo.
Also a couple of NY/NJ Cubans including Mauricio Herrera and Pedro Martinez.
Jimmy Delgado and Ralph Irizarry from the NYC Salsa world.
If we were to include traps drummers who also play timbles as well, Horacio Hernandez, Ignacio Berroa and Dafnis Prieto should all be on the list.
Looks like there are a whole lot of outstanding timbaleros!

To Jorge & Leedy 2..
what a list! and as you have stated there will be many others...If this lists only benefit as being to revive a distant happy memory of one or more of these
Timbaleros for someone on this forum, then I suppose it as being a worthwhile excersise
Best wishes Steve

Have anybody mentioned Steve Berrios of Mongo Santamaria and Fort Apache bands fame.
Was not the Dad a drummer also?

That is quite interesting stuff. That why is so important to know, pass along and preserve history, so we and later generations know to give credit where credit is due. The river is deep............

Don't forget Cuban timbalero, Carlos Montesino, who taught the great Tito Puente and many others.
