Forum fully dedicated to the instrument

I got a great deal on some really old WFL copper Timbales. They need alot of work and probably some new hardware, but I think this will be a fun and very profitable project. Mostly the drums are in need of a good cleaning and some heads, but one of the shells is split down the side at the seam. Does anyone have any ideas of the best way to repair this split? I was thinking welder but I dont know if thats the best way or not.
