Hi everybody!

When I heard Raymond saying that the new LP timbales have thinner shells (which may sound worse), I had an idea to use snare drums shells without the botom head. I thing some of them are thicker, aren´t they?

I only don´t know if cascara could be played - of course one have to remove the useless mechanics (some lugs and snares...etc.). It would be probably better for the drummers who could use it instead of toms with a snare stands.

...and maybe it would be even cheaper too?

What do you think? ???

Yes you can use a snare shell. The chrome on brass sounds good. Use a thin uncoated head. It will hold you until you get a real set.

Well, thank you...but it's a little bit misunderstanding. I have possibility to have a real set - all I wanted was to call your atention to thickness of drumshells which will finally afect theirs sound

I use a 1960 chrome on brass Slingerland snare and the shell is thick so I can use it. Look for thick shells and purchase a set if that is what you want.. cascara can be played on it. Good Luck
