Please follow the link below and see a video or videos with Tito de Gracia and Paoli Mejias...(Hopefully the link will work...).

http://video.search.yahoo.com/search/vi ... =yfp-t-501

Check the timbales...Is a prototype....I've played them..Is coming to a store near you soon! Is...is 14/14..tall shelll..stainless steel...It breaks the current trend of timbales .Check it out! (Is from the competition but I know this timbale if they put it out like they plan to do..it will be a hit...)

This is no secret since Tito is using it in public appeareances....

Saludos!

Thanks for sharing, Raymond!
The vid worked well under http://video.yahoo.com/watch/2353399

A very interesting set of Timbales indeed, the sound was a bit hard to figure out under the
circumstances of the live recording. I quite liked it, strangely enough the macho sound reminded me
a bit of a cranked-up snare drum sound (without the spirals of course). Which brand is it?

And Tito and Paolo are great players! Pretty cool breaks at the beginning 8)

Cheers
Mike

Yep. This mode is coming and it should be something different from the entire line. (Recordings have been made with this prototype).

We'll keep you posted.

Saludos!

Just a little update of mine:

Here is the new signature model:

EDIT: I have heard that LP has presented a"Prestige" line timbales model at the NAMM.
Does anyone know about further details?

I was at the latest NAMM and regarding timbales...the emphasis in LP was in the new Prestige Line, the Tito de Gracia Model, a new Karl Perrazo and some new Matador. Didn't see emphasis in Tito Puentes at all... The lnew ine of Prestige Timbales, complete with steel, brass and bronze models, and not seeing Tito Puente's models, made me wonder if LP was getting away from Tito Puentes models..In their new price list both are included so appears both lines will be with LP, Prestige and Tito Puentes..besides the KP and TDG models.....(Sort of like a redudancy since the Prestige Line is coming with the same versions as the Tito Puentes....The Prestige and the Tito Puentes appear will complete head to head that by the way Prestige is more expensive by a $20 to $30 as per the price list).

The changes in the Prestige?????...notice that the decorative lines in the shells are further apart to give a better cascara area, supposedly some low mass plates in the cascara area for more volume in the cascara...Some hardware changes to make tuning easier....An LP endorser told me the new Prestige looks like the Meinl's Luis Conte (without the hammering)....The Karl Perrazo is the same timbale as before but with the same features that I mentioned before with the new Prestige Line...more cascara space, changes in hardware, etc, etc.. Ah...new badging for all new models, and other instruments, a black circle with LP in silver..

The Tito De Gracia's are 14/14 tall shells, that give a brighter cascara...and the stand is unique in LP's line up because it lowers enough to play the timbales in a drumset (while seated)....

That is what I saw...regarding sound???? Have to have them both, Tito Puentes and Prestige to compare them.

I hope this helps...Saludos!

Thanks for your detailed report, Raymond! :D

It looks as if I should not worry too much - the new models we are wondering
about are far too expensive anyway - but of course, I was as curious as I always am
to know a bit more...

As regards a "vintage" cascara sound (LP seemed to boast with that phrase):
My 20-year-old AFRO brass timbales from before the mass production you helped me to
identify a while ago REALLY sound awesome on stage, both cascara and skin sound.
Last Friday we had a concert at school, two timbaleros battling in one piece, and guess who won?
Not the Meinl, but the Afro timbales

Thanks again, Raymond, it is always a pleasure for me to read your expert posts!

All the best,
Mike
