kick drum for timbales

Hi everyone,

It's been a few years since I posted - I've been out through injury, but now I'm back!

Anyway, that's enough of that. I want to add a kick to my timbales setup, and am favouring a shallower type drum, partly for ease of transport. Anyone recommend a suitable model they've had good times/sounds with?

I just purchased a gretsch catalina jazz kit with a beautiful 18 inch bass drum that im also gonna use with a timbale set up .Great sounding drum . really happy with it . Also very reasonable price wise

Actually, an 18" (curiously by Remo) just came up for sale on the island where I live - going to check it out on Friday.
