Timbale Questions

Postby gbftats » Wed Jun 15, 2011 8:58 pm

My father in law told me about an old set of timbales he used to own made by Coke Escovedo (LP?). He said they were made of wood. I play drum set and would like to get some timbales to play more traditional latin music. I have been thinking about building a set of timbales with Maple shells, but have not heard cascara on a wooded shell. Think this would be a good sound? Also, what kind of bearing edge to Timbales have? I would imagine a round over?

Welcome here!

You might want to take a look at TAROLAS if you are after wooden timbales:
