Stand rash on the timbales

Postby eskrimaaddiction » Fri Jul 29, 2011 12:42 pm

So I finally snagged the pair of green label timbales and they are in amazing condition for pushing 30 years old. They almost look brand new. This girl did not even play them at a single gig and hardly even used them at her house. She had never even heard of a cascara so the sides of the shell are flawless. The only issue is where the timbales rest on the stand they have left what I'm calling stand rash on the timbales, since she never took them off the stand for 20+ years. I'm doubting that their is much I can do but I thought I might as well ask.

Also what notes do you guys tune a 14/15 timbale too!

Thanks again always learning

Brasso may help the issue a bit., but you may want to consult with your local hardware store first.

As for tuning, probably tuning generally to the interval of a 4th or 5th would be best.

.....and tune them with the congas tuning in mind so they sound good together.
