Changing Rims on My Leedy/Slingerland Timbales

Postby jesse_velazquez » Tue Oct 25, 2011 3:33 pm

Below are a pair of Leedy/Slingerland timbales. They have Hardwite Humberto Morales skins. I was curious to know that from the looks of it, that the rims are also made from the skin. I was wondering what I would have to do when i need to change the skin? would I have to buy new rims for it? and if so do they sell rims for these that have the 2 slots so that they can mount to the stand? since the drum rim looks like it has that part built on into it. Hopfully I am making sense, I am just cruious as to know where to get rim replacements as well as new calf skins (since I would like to keep them original sounding as possible). My wife purchased these for me as a gift not too long ago, and I really think they are great. Image

Thanks Leedy. So then mine have a rim under that, and if am not mistaken, you say to keep the rim that is wrapped on my drum now, and all I have to buy is premounted skin??

When she purchased them she forgot to tell me the size heads, do you know if these are 13/14 or 12/13??

You're the man Leedy. Thank you so much for your help. I was paranoid about how I was going to replace these when they did get bad, and hopefully they will not for a long time, I untune them everytime I finish using them.
