Hello everyone,
It as being a while since I was last on the forum, afraid my state of health keeps getting the better of me :x
I will have missed much during my break,I just wondered if both Matthew Smith Timbales & JCR Timbales are still in business could not find their web pages? of course it could me me doing something wrong!

Are these guys still thought of as the best current TIMBALES builders? linkwise JCR Cowbells~Still the best?and are their similar top class Timbales builders around?.

Look forward to some feedback, and then I can follow up this thread with some additional related questions

Best wishes from Norway
Steve :D

I went to see Cali a few weeks ago, to order a set of Pailitas(Timbalitos) from him.

Bad news.

He's no longer making Paila. He told me to find someone else to make them. He's only making bells, some hardware, and repairs. He said he's "tired".

So that leaves us with Matt as the only person making Timbales by hand.

I begged him.

He said no.

I told him I would get the material. He still declined.

Matt Smith is still in business and has some great products on the market. I ordered a cha cha and flat timbal bell from him and they have become my favorite bells. I know he made a pan con queso replica bell at one point but they are not for sale on his website. I will have to inquire about that when I order one of his signature bongo bells next. Truly a master craftsman.
