ah, its a 5 sting bass. Good to know, and it probably helped in the "rhythm section" then. Bajo is real important to us as you well know, I tend to listen to bass alot and use the melody/lead for tune direction on "unfamiliar" or staying"in the pocket" for small venues. I am sure having a bassist made you feel more comfortable.

Nice rounded out repertoire.

Mainly in this group I'm listening to the chord progression of the bass, a lot of this music is based on a 12 bar blues, so I'm
listening for the chord changes and then I'm adding fills to signal the changes with rhythmic variations for each section/solo of the
song.

The play was about an English woman on Safari in Africa.
I'm playing the Abakua 3 into 2 pattern as the actors are
walking through the jungle. It was a fun little gig.

The teddy bears loved the music, they wouldn't get off stage!

That's because they're "bearly " able to.

I threw a little event at my apartment this weekend.
I called it "A New Poetry and Percussion Party".
It was inspired by Gil Scott Heron's album "Small Talk at 125th and Lennox"
That is an album of Gil reciting spoken word poetry to some nice afro-cuban percussion.

I've been describing the event as kind of like a rumba except in place of Cuban songs in Spanish
you have American poetry in English. It was a lot of fun, not so many pics of me playing as I'm taking the
photos. Congas, bongos and even bata for a few recitals

I'm the guy in the vest.

that's a great idea and it looked like fun.
The Bay area is a unique place to be as a musician.
