So I'm on my way to return the congas I rented to the store. Last night (I wish it would have been all day, but I had to work) I recorded to a couple songs I've wanted to for a while. I tried to make them perfect but when I got to recording, I just tried to have some fun. So the end result is, some of the stuff works, some of the stuff doesn't. It's hit and miss. But all by the seat of my pants. I just wanted to send the congas off the right way. Enjoy some conga with modern jazz tunes. Thanks for your time guys. 8)

Hey guys. I recently picked up an Udu. It's an LP Udu Utar. It was either between this udu or the LP Mbwata. This one was louder. I was also wondering about Meinl Ibo but surprisingly not many people carry around udu's 8). Anyways, here's the video. I have alot of work to do, but i'm really enjoying this thing. Anyways, enjoy.

I've recently become aware that music has become a part of my DNA. My life is boring without it, a little empty. No matter what the hard time I'm going through, I can always go into creative mode and get lost for a few hours just creating something. All I need is the right inspiration and a reason to drop doing some more "important" things. I get into the groove, into a trance. Looking for the right sounds and the right feel. It's like meditation for me.

Here's something I recorded and composed. It's been a while since I've done something like this. I have a stash of old material I've written that I may put up on my youtube. Anyways, here's todays work. I used my LP Udu Utar. It's ambient electronic music. Hope you guys enjoy.

Haha thanks man. I hear you loud and clear. I wasn't thinking at the time to record my playing on video, just for the song. But maybe the next one I'll definately make a video for it.

I appreciate it.

Hey, thanks man. That was a little while ago. I've gotten a little better but it's still kicking my ass. If I were able to dedicate more time to it i'd be glad.

Hey everyone. I had some time to record myself playing cajon along to a song. It's pop/hiphop.. I origianlly started on the drumset and played for several years before I switched to percussion. The cajon is probably the most transferable with regard to going from drumset to more hand percussion. I wish I would have picked one up sooner. Really easy to play and I would say a must for any percussionist. Anyways, it's a Meinl Headliner with an Ash front board and environmentally friendly particleboard body. I found this to be one of the better sounding cajons at the store. Better to me than the more expensive meinls. If I wanted to spend the money, I would have loved to get the Alex Acuna model by Gon Bops. Beautiful cajon. Awesome bass, nice hi -end snare sound, very nice. This meinl for the most part, price considered, sounded best to me.

Hey guys. Here's just a short video of my Kanjira playing. I don't know indian music nor do I understand it's principles...I just try to imitate what I hear and it's pretty obvious lol. Anyways, I know there are some members who play kanjira as well. Enjoy

Not bad, how long have you been playing?
Kanjira is a fascinating instrument.
To me it seems like the hardest instrument to play solo and maintain a groove on.
I only dare play mine when in a group context.
It's another instrument that can take a lifetime to learn.

Hey. Thanks. I've been playing since late september. I know I could be better if I had a consistant practice schedule, but...life.
It's definately a special instrument.

I notice that the great players have a sort of back and fourth whipping motion in their wrist which allows them to get speed and play for prolonged periods of time, at least thats what it appears like.. I'm still using fingers and wrist.

Take care

Here's just a video of me jamming on my cajon. I haven"t had the time lately to practice alot. I thought I'd let loose a little in this vid to vent my frustration lol. It's a bit wanky, but it's just jamming, I think it's allowed to be. 8)

Enjoy guys.
