Brief clip from Rincon Rumbero on October 5, 2013. Tony Rosa (quinto), Ricardo Alba (tumbadora), and Troy Parker (segundo).

Great little clip, nice drumming and nice coro. Tony Rosa has been one of the outstanding conga players in NYC, playing with Conjunto Libre, Puntilla's group and the AfroLatin Jazz Orchestra. Keep building it, the crowd and the coro are great.

By the way, I will be out visiting family in LA in November but won't be there in time for the rumba on the first Saturday. Is there any other rumba happening in LA the second weekend in November?

Thanks Jorge...

Tony Rosa was a surprise, and Ricardo Alba was a real treat.

Nothing going on during that time in November yet, but give me a call when your here and we'll see what's going on.

Let's get one going in one of the local parks for that day, Kid, you can post it on Rincon Rumbero and put out an invitation.
Lake lake is an excellent location for it.
Who is game?
Cheers

I am down. We won't get a lot of the heavy hitters, since many pretty much stay in L.A. - but I would be game to do something while jorge is around. The lake sounds fun.

Sounds great! I will be back and forth between Thousand Oaks and Malibu from Nov 6 to the 14 and should have access to a car if I need it. Back to NYC on Nov 14 to make it to the Thursday midnight rumba at the Zinc Bar.

Any rumbas in LA area next weekend, Nov 8-10? Or even on weekdays between 11/7 and 11/13?

Yagbe Onilu will be in town this week, so we might have a little something while he is here. I messaged you with my number.

You can also check out Grifith Park. More times than not there are drum circles or Rumbas going on on weekends, especially on Sundays.
Cheers.

Thanks KidCuba, I got your message and wil call you. KC, that is the reason I asked, to find out if there is a rumba that is not a drum circle. Maybe times have changed but in the the 15 or 20 times I have gone to Griffith Park over the past 25 years, I have yet to find a rumba.

Rincon Rumbero, alive and well.

The video does not truly capture the vibe there this past Saturday, gallos and gallas tradings improvisations with bata-comparsa, and then bata-rumba.
