Thanks Jorge, unfortunately shipping from Canada is like 150, when you add in customs it ends up costing almost 200 per drum. Way too much even though the prices on the drums are reasonable!

Have you checked out getting it mailed rather than shipped via the couriers?

I say that as a Canadian who's often gone south/north with shipping. Because of many bad experiences with shippers from the US and zero bad experiences with USPS I refuse to buy anything stateside if the seller isn't willing to use USPS [and I have had congas come via USPS].

Maybe Canada Post wouldn't be as bad?

Michel has a specific customs courier that he works with. I'm going to toronto in March so I was thinking about trying to pick up one then and just bring it back with me, but right now I'm subject to his chosen service, UPS.

Did you ask?

Not meant to be a rude question. I just know that I've dealt with folks who say they ship via fedex [for example] and don't offer anything else, but if you ask [especially making it clear its means the difference between sale/no sale] they will use USPS.

PS.

UPS is THE WORST! I wouldn't buy anything that had to come via from them under any circumstances

I work in the freight industry and have purchased 6 drums from Michel.
He is open to suggestions/ideas about you handling the shipping.

You have been greatly blessed! Thank you for sharing your experiences. This is the best part of this forum.

I have made less mistakes and poor choices due to advice from Congaplace, Rumbainstruments, Tony's Conga Adventures and too many more to list here.

Bravo and thank you to everyone who shares.

So how did you have yours shipped and what was the cost per drum?
