Posted: Sat Jun 15, 2013 5:00 amActually Ray Baretto used this type of drum around the mid 70's...he used a foot pedal to hit the bottom of the drum and the top as a conga...it just never caught on for some reason...

It was probably used for effects and accents.
Kind of like a bombo drum but upright and play
with a foot pedal.
