Looks like the ad was "flagged for removal".

Would you take $3700 for your full set? They're just instraments. And that's a lot. $800 each conga and $500 for the bongo.

These are hard times, economically speaking - also for buyers...
Just look:

Now the price is gradually coming down to a more realistic range.

Kona, is that the original finish on those drums or did you refinish them?

Refinished. The Super Tumba cracked while in storage and I repaired it. I took that opportunity to sand out any scratches and small dings in the drum. I had to refinish of course so I refinished all of them in a water-based clear lacquer. The appeal of the drums I have is mostly that they are a complete set with the Super Tumba and bongos. I think I have a buyer and we're ironing out the details of the sale now.

I have always thought you should keep them. I have 6 Valje and if I sold them (not for sale) I would love to get that much for my drums... but there are so many used Valjes on and off the market these days it is very tough to get that much for them as you have experienced. I bought one for $100 a short time back.

HI KONA;

I BELIEVE IT'S A FAIR PRICE AT $3950 SHIPPED. I ALSO BELIEVE NO ONE IN THE US HAS PURCHASED THEM BECAUSE OF THE EXTRA TIME AND MONEY FOR CUSTOMS. I JUST GOT A SET OF THREE FROM EBAY FOR $2000 IN GREAT CONDITION SHIPPED AND A MINT BONGO FOR $400. THAT'S $2400. I DONT HAVE THE SUPER TUMBA OF COURSE BUT I DON'T THINK I WOULD PAY $1550 FOR IT EITHER. $1550 IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN WHAT I PAID AND WHAT YOU'RE SELLING YOUR SET FOR.

BEING THAT YOU'VE HAD THEM SINCE 1977 I DONT THINK YOU REALLY WANT TO SELL THEM ANYWAY. I HAVE A JR TIRADO THAT I RESTORED AND WOULD LOVE TO KNOW WHAT ITS WORTH BUT I WOULD PROBABLY NEVER SELL IT. BUT TO KNOW ITS WORTH I WOULD HAVE TO DO WHAT YOU'RE DOING. PUT IT UP FOR SALE AND SEE WHAT I CAN GET FOR IT. AND WHEN YOU HAVE SENTIMENTAL VALUE INVOLVED, YOU'LL NEVER EVER GET WHAT YOU FEEL THEY'RE WORTH.

I THINK MR RUMBA IS RIGHT, KEEP THEM. YOU'VE HAD THEM THIS LONG ALREADY. TAKE CARE GARY. GOOD LUCK.

BTW, HERE'S A PIC OF MY JR.
