hello,
Idea for cajon snare, cheap, easy but efficient :
Put some springs inside the cajon with adhésive.
Less adhésive : more snare and bad vibration too...
More adhésive : less bad vibration and less snare...
Hope that can help !!

Hello congadelica !!
It's cool to share little hocus pocus !!!

(is it good to say that ?)
Using different sizes is interesting, on the photo, I use 1 big and 3 litlle, the result is good and don't need other snare.
Galou.

That' an interesting concept! I had a Meinl String Cajon and actually clipped off the strings on one side because they never sounded right. The drum worked fine with strings only on one side plus the base note sounded better on the side without the snare/sizzle effect being added.

Yes, it is the Meinl Bonjo Cajon mounted on an adjustable Meinl Bongo stand with a piece of hardware removed to custom fit the unique Cajon vs a standard size/shaped Bongo.
Cajon about $50 stand about $125...

Hmmm... I have a few LP bongo stands with the soft "straplock". Wonder if I could use those stands...
Can you post a couple photos of the mounting part of the stand when you get a chance?

I had to sell it Whopbamboom in order to get my LP Conga Set. Do you have a Meinl Bongo Cajon yet? This had like a u-shaped top where the Cajon set down into it and rested on a base and then it had a clamp that I was able to tighten it down between the inside of the u-shaped top.

No, I don't have one... still not sure if I will, either. I played them a couple times, but they didn't seem to have the volume or richness of tone that I hoped for. But then again, I was holding the bongo-cajon between my legs, and that may have dampened it. That's why I was curious about the stand... in case the bongo-cajon sounds much more "opened up" when on a stand. Guess I'd have to just try it.

It really does open it up on the stand. Also, spend a lot of time with this drum... you will find some great sounds on that piece of wood!
