Just for fun.
Why do we all wear hats?? I noticed that brothers JC and Abakua, who posted pictures on another topic, wear exotic headgear, I wear hats too, dont ask me why.
It aint to keep us warm, we work up a sweat within two minutes of starting, does it improve how you hear your drums etc etc.
Anyone got any suggestions, or better still photos?

hehehe noticed your comment in the other thread Diceman!
Good topic! :)

Im away from home for a few days, I will post up some pics of my favourite tambor/gig headwear when i get back. :)
My favourite is my red Kangol. Though I also have my white one which comes out to play when attending the serious get togethers... :;):

Wearing a hat is a part of my musical personality.
Its something many congueros the world over share in common.

Well for me a Hat has been part of my wardrobe, over the years. I also have religious purposes for keeping my head "covered", which I won't go into here. Patato has been wearing his Kangols for many years..."JC" Johnny Conga... :D

I started wearing them years ago when I started going bald, and I get burned up there easily if there's any sun..
So, I've got my reasons.. But these days it just feels comfortable.

JC I respect your religious reasons, but you must have some exotic headwear photos. This thread is just for fun.
Anyone know where Potato got that cool red and white segmented hat? Is it a Kangol?
I have a couple of Kangols, maybe we should call the Kangol marketing department and tell them that they should offer the brothers a discount for raising the profile of their goods ;o)

Cohiba,

I dont wear a straw hat for no particular reason, I must try. I got a Panama though.
I notice that no one has admitted wearing a Kangol backwards yet. It kinda looks cool, 70s stylee, but is a bit too close to the IQ reducing backward baseball cap style.

Cool bonnet JC, thanks for the picture. Nice congas too!!
I hope Kangol appreciate the worldwide coverage (pun intended) they are getting from the brotherhood, but I guess we could all learn something in the hat department from our Reggae Bruvvas.
Any ideas where we can get a red & white Patato style cap?
I am going to France in July, I think a nice red beret will be added to my collection.
More hat pictures needed!! Abakua you promised!!

My favorites hat is from "the hat people" in Oregon.
Taken 2 years ago at New Year's Eve.

Abakua, my brother in headgear, glad you are taking in good lighthearted spirit, enjoy your tour. 'See' you when you get back. Wildhorse, every brother needs the black 'formal' flat cap, v cool!

Hey All,

Newbie here. Headwear: Natural or Synthetic? Just kidding here. Never thought about before, but most players I see are wearing some kind of headwear.

This one is from 1999 Festival de Cuba (this Festival also had Los Jovenes Del Barrio and Jose Alberto el Canario), an annual festival attracting approx 5000 people a night, I have performed with various bands at this festival for the last 7 years. :)

Festival later changed name to Bacardi Latino Festival
