REMINDER: IT'S THIS COMING SUNDAY - JULY 15TH!!

FYI: We still need one more bbq (I'm bringing my small one) in case we can't get a spot that has the built-in ones.

CongaBoard Rumba and BBQ in San Francisco!!!

Looks like we have quite a few CongaBoard members in the San Francisco Bay Area, and though I've met some of you I think it'd be great to get us all together for a party - a chance to talk, play (a very fine selection of congas, no doubt), eat some good food, have a few beverages and get to know one another.

Date: TBD, but I'm thinking mid July - let's see how Saturday July 14 works for everyone. No date is going to be perfect, of course. If July 7-8 or 14-15 doesn't work, I'm out the rest of July (Humboldt!) and would have to think of August.

Place: It doesn't have to necessarily be in SF (I live in Berkeley, actually), but it will have to be someplace where the cops/neighbors won't shut us down because of noise. Would be nice if it had bbq's as well.

Options -
- Stern Grove (would have to be a Saturday because of the festival)
- Golden Gate Park (could be a struggle to keep the drum-circling djembe players and wandering riff-raff away - I haven't been in awhile, though).
- Delores Park
- Crissy Field
- Tilden Park in Berkeley Hills (lots of great little picnic areas - not sure on the noise issue)
- Berkeley Marina Park (tons of open grass, noise not an issue)
- other ideas?

I'll do the best I can considering everyone's input and come up with a plan.

If we do GG, I recommend the music concourse area,
less riff-raff no djembes, plenty of benches,
but there are a ton of out of the way spots.

Something to consider, parking and hauling tons o' congas...G!

I'm in Colorado,, and I'll make it on my way up the coast on the path to Humboldt, if the timing is right.
I'll have three or four drums, and a need to share some percussion... This is a great idea guys!
So, those of you closer than Colorado,,, don't you be givin' no excuse... ???
Let's exchange some phone numbers with instant messages on the board here!

One more thing,, anybody got a spare bed in or near San Fran for a traveler?
I'll be coming from San Jose the day before, and headed to Forestville the day after.

I might be able to make it. I live in the S.F. Bay Area, particularly the East Bay. Hopefully, I don't have any last minute gigs on the date that's picked.

Taiko and other Bay players,,,
Where are we with this?

I'm refining the timing on my trip this week,, so let's get a decision here!
I've found from organizing stuff before that it's important to keep the communication flowing!

Im in!

Mosswood Park in Oakland is cool too, but someone has to be there early to get a spot.

We can play as long as we like - shade, sun, bbq's etc.

Its by the hospital on Broadway.

How bout July 7th at noon?

Tony

Works for me. I've never been, but I've heard of people playing there before. I can get there early and lock down a spot.

Everyone down with that?

July 7th? noon? Mosswood Park in Oakland?

Is there anyone who wants to come that cannot make the July 7th date but can make the 14th? And if we pushed it to the 14th is there anyone who then wouldn't be able to make it?

No date is going to be perfect for everyone, of course, so let's take the one that is best for the most people.
