Great Stuff Light Seeker!! A clinic on all the parts of Guaguanco in the second vid. The older guy on the left playing Tres Dos looks familiar, like a guy who played in the Boogalu video Rumban Tropical.. Actually the quinto player looks like a slightly older version of the quinto player in Boogalu's Rumbambeo as well.
Really cool dancing in the third.. And Yep, definitely some good eye candy in the first!
Thanks for sharing!
I'm still on the road, in Portland now, headed back tomorrow.

congamyk - it was no accident that I panned over to her for a brief moment. That was my way of trying not to be too obvious. There were SO many beautiful women of all colors in Cuba!

windhorse - I'm not sure who the tres dos player is. As for the quinto player, I've got some still photos of him that very closely resemble Obama. :)

I see she wearing all the Orisha collares (necklaces), at a guess, she may be serving her year in white.
Cuba is the mecca of beautiful women. The melting pot of races, creole, african, spanish. I love Cuban women. 8)

Researcher Interviewing Dolores Perez Herrera. For me, this woman embodies the unbroken link of African culture from Africa to the Americas.

Hey folks,
Below are links to two videos I just posted on YouTube for the first time. I've only been playing for slightly over 3 years now ( I started late in life, I'm 40) and still have a lot to learn. I am posting these here to get some critique from you veterans. These are just practice shots in my bedroom, no fancy set ups or camera work. I welcome all comments/critique. Thank you.

Afrocubarico,

I'm NOT a folkloric/traditional pro, so not qualified to give detailed critique, but from what I see and hear (for what it's worth), you're right on the mark. Congratulations. BTW, I think anybody who puts their playing up for critique has a lot of guts (and self assurance). I admire both the skill and the charcater to publicly display it.

I agree with Congatick and congratulations! I think it's solid (especially if you've only been playing 3 years). If your teacher is Little Johnny then that also explains your good playing!! He's the man!
