You need to go check out some 80's Trouble Funk or E.U., dude's might not be "schooled" but they definitely came up with their own thing in DC., brought back the percussion and beat to the forefront.

No doubt, in Cuba they are extremely well known, outside of Cuba groups like bamboleo, Irakere, Van Van seem to be much better known.

These were taken with my friend's Iphone.. Pretty amazing clarity considering! Notice my Isla Iya Thom is playing in the Bembe? The gal dancing in the Guaguanco is becoming a regular at our practices and continues to work on "real" folkloric moves.. I'm really no more than a beginner at singing and I'm the lead!
