Hi Congadelica,
just got "Echu Mingua" and I can only say it´s AWESOME!
You´re right the track Puebla nueva is fine, but all the other - more "experimental", "avantgarde" tracks are even cooler...

Cheers!

Charangaman,

I am so envious (in a caring kinda way)

I would have been there if I hadnt been gigging.

Toots and the Maytals-what a treat and a blast from the past. Real Roots.

and Ojos de Brujos- I just cant get enough of them, I love where they are taking Flamenco, what are they like live?

Diceman & Congadelica,

I'll definatley go again, the whole event was tops...

To be honest I didn't check for Groove Armada as they clashed with TOOTS..

Ojos de brujo are mental live! Cajon action!
Ska Cubano very slick..& Tinawaraen (sp?) Out of Mali were awesome..

But no-one nice up the dance like TOOTS!

peace&blessings,
as a coltrane lover i would say a love supreme is my favorite track on anga's
(also is likley the most interesting cover of coltrane i heard so far).
los van van are scheduled to perform in my area and i am definetly going, God willing.
the previous time i saw them live pedrito, roberto and pupi were still with the band.
i am curious to hear the new line up. (but most of all i am greasing my dancing shoes :) )
toots hilbert still rocks hard after 40+ years! more power to him.
one love

Been checking out stuff by a band out of Cuba called "Los aces de la Timba" (The Aces of Timba) Absolutely wicked arrangements, killer groove and awesome tracks.

Check them out if you get a chance.

One of my favorite groups. I REALLY love these guys, their style and the groove that seems to put it all together.

Hi Marco,
There are several recordings available by Los Muñequitos de Matanzas, you can find 9 of them here: http://www.afrocubaweb.com/munequitos/muneqdisc.htm

You cant go wrong with Muñequitos. I prefer the old school line up however.

Hey Conga Tick,
I'm with you on the Spam-Allstars, I've been really into them lately. A great mix of funk & breakbeats with Afro-Cuban grooves. Got to see them live recently, FUN!!
