Shalom (:
Nice to know that there are other Israelis here .
Ray will be playing in Zappa club (Tel Aviv) on the 17+18+19.11.05 .
If you want , I can scan the ad I have and post it .
I saw (in a movie) a concert of Fania allstars with Ray Barretto , I think from the 70's & in Africa . He does there the same trick you've mentioned , but later he takes the conga , wakes up and starts bouncing and jumping with it all over the stage , smashing it into the floor , accompanied by some other players , jumping with him . It's one of the funniest things I've ever seen . Have anybody seen that too ?
And Onile , who's this guy ? Buckwheat circa ...?

Alafia Soungalo!

Actually, it's a bit of American humor! There used to be a television program on called "The Little Rascals", it was around the time when there was only black and white programming on TV!

It was about a group of kids who were for the most part, quite poor, and they would get into many kinds of trouble. "Buckwheat" was the one who had somewhat of a speech impediment and couldn't pronounce certain words, such as Okay! he would say Otay!

Just a little humor, but sorry I didn't think about the geographics of it!

Have fun though, and do take some pictures my friend! We would all love to see them!

Many blessings!

Onile

Soungalo - just wanted to let you know: your English is fine. It was perfectly clear what you meant to say, regarding the congueros you'd heard at the age of 12.

Enjoy the gig - I wish el Ray was coming to Hong Kong!

SHalom Sounaglo,
Please Scan the Ad for the upcoming Barretto
Concert and post it. I'd love to print it out and put on my
bulletin board. I used to live in Israel also
and began congas studying with Jerry Garval
(originallly from Newark, NJ) in 1978.

Hey Johnny, how are you doing? Give me a chance man! :;): I've only been here a few months myself, and am still getting established, trying to meet the right people and get gigs. Just heard about some promising-sounding promoters I need to contact - will keep you posted.

Me looking like a big nerd :p

But, I'm with Ray Barretto. This was in a concert in Tribute to his legacy in Bayamon PR, last year.

By the way, to see the pic, you need to cut and paste the URL. Tripod doesn't like it when other sites link to their pictures and refuses to show them.

Ray has lost some of his chops as of late...he wasn't as fast as before. But, the concert was off the hook...and Ruben Blades sang Canto Abacua with him...I was in heaven!

¡Vaya Firebrand!
¡Espero que todo este bien contigo mi pana!

Yo! Bro! That's a cool pic of you and Barretto! He's my all time hero of the tumbadoras!
Yeah, I guess that age is taking a toll on him, but I'm sure that he's still a showman, he's been one all of his life, there's no stopping!

Suave!
