Yambu,
Nice choices, I have both CDs, Rumba Buhaina by Jerry Gonzalez & Fort Apache and Listen Here! by Eddie Palmieri. I actually enjoyed both of these but if I had to pick a fav amongst the two, it would be Listen Here!
I think Listen Here! does have some tracks that lean more towards Jazz but overall the CD definitely has a nice Afro-Cuban flavor to it. I love his version of Tin Tin Deo! Also, Giovanni and Eddie work so well together. Minus Eddie's classical piano solos, I did enjoy this one.
Another Latin Jazz CD I truly enjoyed that had the best of both Jazz and Latin (IMO) was Simpatico by Brian Lynch and Eddie Palmieri. This one smoked! And what a rhythm section-Giovanni, Pedrito Martinez, Little Johnny Rivero, Dafnis Prieto & Robby Ameen!
I recently picked up Another Kind of Blue and Sketches of Spain both lead by Conrad Herwig. Richie Flores plays congas on both albums. Sweeeet!
