He may be well over 90, in fact. Check out this thread in Yahoo's BongoGroup.

Either way, it looks like a great event! You guys are lucky to have seen this percussion maestro live! He's a legend, one of the best bongoceros ever, and one of the last ones from his generation still with us.

Hey Bombs,

Do you have any others with Giovanni and Javier Navarette (the brother pictured with Giovanni above) ?

It would be cool to print a copy for Javier, i know he would dig it.

Also, did anyone film this event, id love to trade it for a realy fat dvd of the Timbale mastera event at Yerba Buena last year..

Blango,
I'll see what I have later, you know I bumped into Javier at the MOMA after the show, a nice guy for sure and a hell of a player!
I guess you must know him? Is he a local?....................G!

Yes,

Javier Navarette is local. He is Jesus Diaz's conga player (QBA)

Javier has great chops, incredible musicality, and little ego. He has the best chance of being the next John Santos here in the Bay Area.

Not sure about the video, but you could hear him in the audience, I think they mixed him in a little better later on in the show.......I was able to hear his bongo licks clearly, also he was the only one with bongos.
