Yes there are many opportunities to play hand percussion in a variety of bands today...I myself work with a variety of bands all the time and have been for 48 years....

Percussion has been around in a lot of different forms for thousands of years ..

Well if you do not solo, the format is you keep time playing, until it is time for a solo IF u get one...and to play in a variety of bands you need to be versatile and learn many 'styles' of playing along with many many rhythms..which also means 'just keeping time'...not playing all over and on top of other musicians..while they solo or are just playing with everyone else...

From the Piano introduction - it sounds to me like Eddie Palmieri.

But that's all I listened to.

Been listening to Palmieri long enough to recognize his style.

The old timers here would agree. Either that or that's a Palmieri clone!
