Rodolfo Pacheco performs on cajon, djembe and conga

I really love this video. it starts out slow but at the end it pays off when he plays congas.
Fast forward if you have to but don't miss the conga part.

congamyk, thanks for a very cool posting. I love this guy's style. Very sweet with a delightful timing sense. Didn't think djembe was as strong as his cajon which was very strong. The congas showed him to be precise and more concerned with the melodic than with extreme stroke rapidity. I thought his opens were some of the strongest I've heard. Leared a lot from watching him. Again, thanks.

Yoni,

She's not intimidated, that's for sure. Her energy and multi-drum abilty to play the entire set and cymbals will take her very far. Wonderful. Now darbouka and congas?

Heyyyy CongaTick!

Great to hear from you!

She's good on darbouka too, and piano, but no videos yet.

Here's another one of her on drumset with a little more variety. She's into a heavy metal phase right now (oh, well) but also plays some Latin and Afro rhythms, and is mostly self-taught. On guitar she's completely self-taught, and the second clip here is one of her playing an Anouk tune on guitar.

She says she doesn't like her playing on any of this stuff, but I guess she's a bit hard on herself, like me.

I hope you are fine, Congatick, and everyone else too!

Me, I just returned a couple days ago from France where I played an international music fest in Grenoble. Went there with a hot Latin/Jazz group from Israel, but the fest organizers had me also perform solo on darbouka with France's national break-dance champ, and then with 2 great djembe players from Burkina Faso on either side of me. Woweee, it was a great time. All was videoed and they're supposed to send us a DVD; when it comes I may post parts of it if I like it...

All the best to all,

Yoni

Hi again All,

Gilbert and CongaTick have already seen this clip, but I don't know who else has - I had it put on yahoo video about a year ago and forgot about it until now....

It's a solo on a daholla with a goatskin head, but muted with a cloth inside so as not to disturb neighbors at night...

Enjoy!

Thanks Changuiri for that link. Great interview with Dolores Perez, with her commentary on changes in the rumba brought about by the younger generation, defendiendose las raices. I always love to hear what los mayores have to say.
