But sorry man the hat makes you look like a farmer! :p

Does LP make a "Classic Lite" model?

The drums are too good for me; I don't deserve them--but I'm keeping them.

Farmer? I guess I'm more into the folklorico look.

Bachikaze - just joking.

So you recommend the Bauer congas?
Why do they call them "Lite"?

Somebody correct me if I am wrong. I recall reading somewhere that Carlos Valdez got his nickname because of his hat. That "Patato" is a cuban nickname for the style of hat in question. I have no idea where I read it, so maybe I am confusing it with something else.
Take care, be good, and spread some around.

I do recommend Bauers, although I'm not an expert on congas in particular. But they sound good, and most people who play them are very impressed.

They are made of macaiba wood from Brazil. The wood is lightweight, although that is relative.

To me, the "Lite" spelling makes them seem like a cheap, junior version in Bauer's line, but actually, it's not true. I have a photo of Dudu Tucci using them.

They are no longer made, but can be bought new online.
