Hi,
I also have heard that there exist some clinical studies which
tell that glucosamine/chondroitin can be beneficial for tendons, cartilage and so on. But one should take in account that this is a big market with a lot of money in it. Almost everybody elder suffers from arthrosis. The next question is from what starting material the factories prepare their products. Is that material safe? (BSE, toxic pollution)
Anyway....the idea of supplementig sounds reasonable to me.
Chondroitin/glucosamine are components of cartilage of all animals, not only men. In former/poorer times people used the whole slaugthered body. I remember my grandma boiling bones of cattle, carcasses of chicken, heads and bones of fish, pig feet and so on for hours in order to prepare a so called fond for soups and sauces.
Today we eat only lean meat in form of steaks and maybe this causes deficiency? Just an idea..
