Exactly. I learned that part from Naldo of Afrocuba de Matanzas, Ibae. He called it seis por ocho, and it actually does have a 6/8 feel. It is the middle drum part. There is a great demo of the part on You Tube here:
With the right tumbador part and feel, that seis por ocho part gives the guaguanco matancero that beautiful laid back swing that we all love but most of us can't play. It doesn't sound right with the standard tumbador habanero or NY style, it is really a 6/8 if you listen to some of the old Guaguanco Matancero, Folklor Matancero, Muñequitos, and Afrocuba. Drives the jodedores in Central Park crazy, they can't stand it.
