Congadelica,
Thank you. I really do enjoy the Volcano Percussion Congas. I did own a Hang for a short time. I purchased it from a rep. I sold it on e-bay about 2 months after I owned it. In that short time I did make a CD of Hang Music. It was fun. Now other companies are coming out with Hang Drums.

Mike,
incredible sounds you get on your Volcano conga beauties!
Incredibly round tone. Quite a lot of sustain, right? Or it is due to the recording?
I notice the quinto is not tuned very high. But that makes perfect sense in your setup. The tonal quality is amazing indeed.

Congrats again on your extended family :D

Cheers from
the other Mike
Peace & drum

Hello Mike,

Thank you for the complements. I don't like the quinto tuned too high because I have found if I tighten to much it will kill the over all sound. The drums have just the right amount of sustain and I can control it. The tiny mic on my camcorder is the only mic used in the recording. Next time I will post sound from my own studio. I should be able to capture the beautiful low end that the cam corder could not.
Take care.
All the Best!

Here's a few vid's of a rumba for a TV show in Boulder CO. Our group is called Bamboche. This was sort of a mini version of the group because some people were out of town. I think some of you may know windhorse, and this is through his myspace portal. I don't have a copy of the full DVD yet, so Windhorse got it up faster. I'm the guy in the red shirt with the hat. Enjoy!

Power to the man still giving it a go at his apparent age...
However, some very sloppy technique there, quite bad.
Sorry, but I didnt dig it at all, couldnt watch it to the end.
Each to their own though.

Here's one from Anga, taking a solo during a descarga (jam.) Pure heart and fire.

Mr Jack Costanzo is a true giant among drummers. He has touched so many people with his wonderful music . He can play bongos better,Faster and more melodic than most. He is still very active doing gigs and has recorded two new CD's that are fantastic! If you listen to this Master of the Bongos you will learn so very much. He has a large body of work and credits to his good name. If you are serious about music seek out his music and you will learn so much from him. He is a wonderful friendly man that has made a ton of Music for all of us to enjoy.
All the Best!

Im happy he brings you joy. Thats a wonderful thing.
However, I may have been tought differently by my former mentors. His technique is what I would consider sloppy, & lacking in tone definition many times,
again, Im glad he is doing his thing, and brings happyness to people, thats a fantastic, awesome thing. But could not be further from I would call a 'Master'.
And yes, Im familiar with who Mr Constanzo is. Again, Im happy he is at it still and still doing well for himself after all this time, my views of him on the drum however, I find him lacking in many departments.

Here is a gentleman by the name of Carlos Caro, well on his path to greatness on the drum. Fantastic technique and form.

Again, each to their own.

Giovanni is a master. Anga was for sure a Master. Carlos Caro is very good. Abakua thanks for your very insightful opinion.

Here is more from the Drum Master (Mr Bongo) Mr.Jack Costanzo

There is no doubt that Jack Constanzo is a Master of the Bongos, as far as the congas,
....well they call him Mr. Bongo.

Im familiar with those clips. Again, could not be further from what I would consider a master. I really dont dig what he does at all.
Im straight up and dont mean to offend, but my schooling has left quite different expectations, Mr Constanzo's form just doesnt cut it in my opinion.
Maybe in a movie scene or cabaret or hippy drum circle he may impress, but from what I have come to expect and the schooling I teach my students, again, he doesnt come close to cutting it.
Man, if he is a master, then I am Giovanni Hidalgo's Teacher.
Like Ive previously stated, Im happy he brings you joy, that is a wonderful thing. The fact he is still at it and for what I can see, doing well from it, well then power to him.
He dont impress me one bit at all though. Sorry, but if I had another set of hands, Id give it 4 thumbs down.
Im just honest. Sorry if it offends, not my intention.
