On the subject of artists - this is one group who I discovered recently. Fantastic New York Latin grooves from the 1970s, with heavy conga soloing, esp. in the 6/8 sections, at least from the album I've got (unfortunately its a compilation).

I'm sure you must have known them, Johnny!

Simon,

Ocho burns! I don't own any of thier albums, but I've heard them. The only thing I own with them on it is a compilation CD called "The Afro-Latin Groove -- Sabroso" It's an incredible compilation with tunes performed by Ocho, Mongo, Willie Bobo, Cal Tjader, Eddie Palmieri, Machito, The Har-You Percussion Ensemble, etc. I highly recommend it!
